Gadgets That Really Change Life

Too often we think of gadgets as small units from us for fun: MP3 player, cell phones, PDAs, music players. So forget those who are made to help people and really change your life. This article is about devices that improve the lives of people and are not as well known as a party and fun stuff. I will talk about the equipment manufactured for people with disabilities, devices that help these people to have a better life. Most of these artifacts are made for the blind so I’ll start with them. Electronic Eyes This high tech device recognizes the white stripes on a pedestrian crossing and reads traffic lights could tell a blind person when it is safe to cross the street. The electronic eye developed at Kyoto Institute of Technology. Braille PDAs and PCs Braille allows visually impaired to use standard PCs or PDAs. The use of upgraded equipment Braille Braille took small dots through holes in a flat surface to create Braille that refreshes as the user enters commands. So a blind person can listen to music, reading books, notes, making presentations or review / edit documents. PC with a screen reader Information to readers in the login screen computer monitors and interpret this information via text to speech production. This software is used in conjunction with text to speech so that the shutters to use the equipment easily. IBM Home Page Reader offers a special software to view and navigate Web pages to those who are blind. Cellphone conversations with software Discussions of software created by Cingular Wireless. This is a blind person will have full access to the capabilities of wireless phones with only his voice. Other common devices for the blind are Braille and talking watches, Braille color identification tags, clothing, writing guides, tactile signing talking calculators and magnifiers. For deaf people are more interesting and useful gadgets I have to say. Portable Amplifiers These are small devices that can be easily transported and used to provide greater amplification. Telecommunication Devices Telecommunications device for the deaf have a typewriter, and typed conversation appears either on screen or on paper reading. Tele Caption Adapters The adapter is connected to the TV. They allow viewers to read subtitles on the TV screen. Alert gadgets Now can a deaf person know when someone knocks on the door when the baby cries or the phone rings. All this is possible because of the warning. An early warning system for the deaf will send a signal: if the child cries, the doorbell rings, the phone rings, the smoke alarm system is on, began to security alarms or wake up the alarm. The signal may be visual (a flashing light), auditory (an increase of gain), or vibrotactile. For those who are not hands or fingers are some new gadgets to improve their lives. X-Finger X-Finger is a medical gadget replace lost fingers created by Dan Didrick. X-Finger is not a finger robotic prostheses, or a set of multiple fingers, with a full range of motion, in addition to curl fingers as usual. The Bionic hand The Bionic hand-created by David Gow. It is unique because the thumb and fingers can move and grip just like a human hand and is unique in that patients are using their minds and muscles that control movement. So when you hear the word of the gadgets do not think that just a device to have fun with, think of the services that improve the lives of people, especially those with disabilities.
