Legends Of Wrestlemania (PS3, XBox 360) (Preview)
In what is most likely to be the last installment of WWE games developed by THQ they decide to go back to the times when wrestling was fun, recreating all your favourite characters from bygone days.
The control system is a slimmed down version of the Smackdown engine which allows for greater fluidity and a real old school feel to the game. You can recreate lots and lots of real Wrestlemania matches and re-write history if you so wish. There are over 40 wrestlers/managers/announcers etc and we can exclusively reveal the starting roster of wrestlers (not including managers/announcers or unlockable characters)

A pretty impressive list, but the omissions of Mick Foley and Randy Savage due to “politics” is a little disappointing. Although anybody with Smackdown vs Raw 09 will be able to import characters from that game allowing you to have a very healthy number of players included. Details are hazy as to whether previous years Smackdown characters can be imported but we will have the answers for you soon.

Arn Anderson isn’t he a WCW wrestler?

He was in WWE a long time before he went to WCW. WCW and WWe merged a while back giving them the rights to use any of the characters they want to that have appeared at wrestlemania in the past.

In regards to the list… isee a couple who will not be in the game. 1. Kamala…he’s never been at a Wrestlemania
2. Michael Hayes…didnt show up til Wrestlemania 2000 and ever then he only don interviews with the superstars.
3. I dont see managers on the list.
other than that. The reat have a very strong possibility of making the game

I think this is the real roster. I believe Kamala and Michael Hayes are going to be in it as they are wrestlers that the die hard fans remember fondly and will be welcome in the game.
i would prefer to have seen a few tag teams in it but you can’t have everything

I think that HHH and Shawn Michaels are a 2 wasted slots personally. They are both presently wrestling. What do you think Neil?

Personally I really liked the old shawn michaels characters and as this is a legends gameI believe he should be in it.
HHH has wrestled in so many wrestlemanias now that it would be impossible to leave him out.

I still wish they would use razor ramon and diesel instead of HHH and Micheals. If the latter 2 weren’t currently wrestling in the WWE, I wouldn’t mind it.

My list was only what I knew from my friend testing the game. Bam Bam may be an unlockable character that my friend had not unlocked.

Overall, if this is all true and I really hope it is then I have to say I’m quite satisfied with the roster, however I’m gutted about no Macho Man (as usual) and where are all the great tag teams?
One tag team I would have loved to see featured that not many people seem to mention were “The Powers of Pain” also known as The Warlord & Barbarian, also Demolition Ax & Smash should be in the game IMO.

IGN are confirming the wrestlers every other day and ur list seems authentic.
Only Dusty Rhodes and Bam Bam Bigelow so far included that you havent mentioned.

Thanks bazdev. I have already said I believe the list to be true. I have only posted the information I have been given and so I am not claiming it is a complete list. New wrestlers could emerge after I have been given the information but any news I find out I will let you all know.

Sorry, as stated previously I have been getting the information from a friend of mine who has been testing the game. The game has been sent back to THQ for final checks before release but any further information I get will be posted here straight away.

I’ll be promoting this site, no doubt. I do have a question, though: do you happen to remember if your friend said if Gene Okerlund was a hidden playable character? Or does he appear elsewhere as an NPC?

I am unsure where Mean Gene features. My friend just told me that he was in the game. I would assume he will be an announcer or NPC.
